Student Recruiter Prospectus - College and Medical School Fair (PDF Version)
About University of Rochester SNMA:
Historically, the Student National Medical Association represents the oldest and largest medical student organization of its kind, dedicated to empowering persons of color, especially in helping in the plight of our nation’s underserved communities. Today we continue to dedicate our efforts to increasing the number of culturally capable and sensitive physicians; we remain committed to the academic and clinical success of medical and pre-medical students.
URMC SNMA Premedical Conference:
The 4th Annual Premedical Conference theme is "I AM MEDICINE" and will be held at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry on January 26, 2013 from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM. The conference will bring together educators, clinicians and students from area high schools, colleges, and medical schools. Conference participants will be exposed to health care professions in the form of workshops, panels, labs, and medical procedure simulation. Sessions include students’ perspectives on medical school and college, physicians’ insights, interviewing tips, and strategies for financing their education. In the end, our hope is that students leave the conference feeling informed about their educational pathway to medicine. We want the students to feel empowered and assured that their dreams of a health care career can actually happen.
URMC SNMA Student Recruitment Fair
The student recruitment fair is part of our mission to help students achieve their academic goals. While the conference provides students with the basic tools to be compassionate, driven, and well-rounded future physicians, they still need formal training in the humanities, basic sciences, and clinical sciences. We hope to expose them to colleges and medical schools that are dedicated to supporting minority students. With your support, it is our goal that each student will leave with more than just a drive to succeed. We want them to develop a clear vision of their future; which includes attending an institution that will nurture their passion, solidify their purpose and illuminate their focus.
Who Should Participate?
Educational institutions and organizations that wish to reach a large number of minority students interested in health professions. Your presence at the conference is more than just an opportunity to market your school; it represents a challenge in helping us to change the face of medicine. These students, whom we believe would be a great addition to your college or medical school, come to the conference bright-eyed and excited about medicine. Eight hours later those same bright eyes – now filled with passion, purpose, and focus set out to change the world.
