ABOUT UNIVERSITY OF ROCHESTER SNMA:

Historically, the Student National Medical Association represents the oldest and largest medical student organization of its kind, dedicated to empowering persons of color, especially in helping in the plight of our nation’s underserved communities.  Today we continue to dedicate our efforts to increasing the number of culturally capable and sensitive physicians; we remain committed to the academic and clinical success of medical and pre-medical students.

URMC SNMA 10th ANNUAL PREMEDICAL CONFERENCE:

The  10th Annual Premedical Conference theme is "Using Medicine to Enact Social Change" and will be held at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry on February 2nd, 2019 from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The conference will bring together educators, clinicians and students from area high schools, colleges, and medical schools. Conference participants will be exposed to health care professions in the form of workshops, panels, labs, and medical procedure simulation.  Sessions include simulation labs that will allow students to explore and learn about the intricacies of the human body. Examples of simulation labs of previous years include, organ anatomy and dissection, sutures techniques, physical examination skills, etc. Additionally, participating students will have the opportunity to learn about: different perspective and experience of students in medical school and college; physicians’ insights; and interviewing tips. In the end, our hope is that students leave the conference feeling informed about their educational pathway to medicine. We want students to feel empowered and assured that their dreams of a health care career can actually happen.

URMC SNMA STUDENT RECRUITMENT FAIR

The student recruitment fair is part of our mission to help students achieve their academic goals. While the conference provides students with the basic tools to be compassionate, driven, and well-rounded future physicians, they still need formal training in the humanities, basic sciences, and clinical sciences. We hope to expose them to colleges and medical schools that are dedicated to supporting minority students. With your support, it is our goal that each student will leave with more than just a drive to succeed. We want them to develop a clear vision of their future; which includes attending an institution that will nurture their passion, solidify their purpose and illuminate their focus.

WHO SHOULD PARTICIPATE?
